MASKOUTAIN RESIDENTIAL SECTOR
REVITALISATION PROGRAM (TAX CREDIT)
2010-2013

[ Property Tax Credit ]

Have you been on the lookout for a charming and vibrant community for you and your family? Are you hoping to make your home ownership dreams come true in a quality living environment? Are you looking to buy a new home that meets all your current needs in a warm and inviting atmosphere? If so, the city of Saint-Hyacinthe represents an excellent choice.

And now, more than ever, Saint-Hyacinthe is THE place to buy as the municipality is currently offering a truly exceptional financial support program for new home buyers looking to build within city limits: "Saint-Hyacinthe j'y bâtis mon rêve!" (Building my Dream in Saint-Hyacinthe).

Why not take advantage of this support program to build your family nest in our fair city. Like so many others, you will be welcomed with open arms and will quickly come to understand why Saint-Hyacinthe "the Beautiful" is the right choice for you and your family.

Who is Eligible?

Any person having acquired a new residential property within Saint-Hyacinthe city limits as defined by the tax credit program, regardless of whether it is the homeowner's first property or not.

Types of construction eligible for the program:
  • Single-family
  • Duplexes
  • Triplexes
  • Multi-family dwellings of 4 units or more
  • Co-property units
What are the eligibility requirements?
  • The construction work is eligible if the building permit for said work was issued during the eligibility period and the work is completed in compliance with the permit and City planning regulations.
  • The minimum eligible amount for tax credit calculation is an evaluation of $50,000 to be generated by the work.
  • The tax credit is automatically granted when these criteria are met (The homeowner is not required to submit a request).
How will the property tax credit be applied?

The applicable tax credit is equal to 100% of the building evaluation for a period of thirty-six months following the work completion date.

It is applicable on all general property taxes for the stipulated fiscal period, excluding local improvement taxes, compensations or taxes relating to services as well as all other special taxes imposed upon evaluation.

Though this may mean that new homeowners will not see their tax accounts completely eliminated (as they must assume payment for compensations relating to services as well as the portion of taxes applicable on the value of the land), they are nonetheless eligible to receive substantial financial assistance.
